Fullstop is a Kelowna-based nonprofit dedicated to stopping injustice against women and girls in the world's poorest countries. How do we do this? Through education and fundraising.
Women and girls in the world's poorest countries are subjected to unimaginable injustices ... physical, emotional, financial, educational, medical. One of the reasons we in the developed world don't do more to help these women and girls is a lack of knowledge – we simply don't know. Another reason we don't help them is that we don't know how. So one of Fullstop's aims is to raise public awareness of injustice against women and girls and to provide information about ways to help.
We hold educational events featuring speakers, films, discussions. This website provides up-to-date information about current issues facing women and girls abroad. We offer suggestions for further learning, including books, websites, videos and events.
At Fullstop, we don't believe in re-inventing the wheel. We do believe in partnering with organizations that are already set up and working effectively to relieve or eradicate injustice against women or girls. These organizations have the required expertise, infrastructure and contacts in the local communities of the developing world. So we raise funds to support the work of these organizations.
Fullstop acts as a conduit for funds from donors to the organizations we support. Donations are made payable to the partner organization, and Fullstop forwards 100% of the donation to them. If the organization is a Canadian registered charity, they will issue receipts for tax purposes. In some cases we support organizations that are doing effective work but are based outside Canada and are not registered as a charity in Canada.
We use a variety of ways to raise funds, including giving circles, special events, concerts, art auctions/sales.

The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) supports community-based organizations that are turning the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa. They provide care to women who are ill and struggling to survive; assist orphans and other AIDS-affected children; reach heroic grandmothers who almost single-handedly care for their orphan grandchildren; and sustain associations of people living with HIV and AIDS.
